Saddle Brook Dad Recovers After Emergency Brain Surgery On Business Trip

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Discovering that a loved one needs emergency surgery is never easy. Last month, it was even more difficult for Christynn Henriquez of Saddle Brook, whose husband was on business in Oklahoma when he began suffering from stroke-like symptoms last month.

Yuniel "Nuni" Henriquez, who shares two girls with Christynn, needed emergency surgery -- before his family had time to get to him.

Doctors found an abscess in his brain caused by two different bacterias and, while Nuni is doing much better, he's still in Oklahoma.

"I was truly hoping to be able to transport my hubs home this week but unfortunately a small superficial blood clot has set us back a bit," Christynn wrote on Facbeook.

"According to the doctors it is not dangerous because it is superficial and most likely related to the pic line (IV) since it's attached to it. It should come out with the pic line."

Since Dec. 6, 2017, Nuni has had to relearn to walk. He has a speech therapist, occupational therapist and physical therapist working with him everyday. He's recovering fast, friends say, but because of a lapse of insurance, he's got a lot of bills to pay.

More than $4,000 had been raised as of Saturday on a GoFundMe for Nuni, Christynn and their girls, Mia and Myla.

"We want to thank every single person that has reached out to us and helped us with contributions," Christynn said.

"We are so humbled and thankful that you have helped in making Nuni's home transport possible."
